Analytics and the Future
I noticed something strange today when looking at the Google Analytics for ihateinternetexplorer.com
22% of our visitors are using IE.
of those poor souls:
54.12% are using IE8
18.56% are using IE7
17.01% are using IE9
and the remaining 10.31% are using IE6 still.
It’s scary that ~2% of the visitors to this site are using IE6.
In any case, back to the point of this post!
The future
I’d love to get some forums set up on here and get some community members to start contributing their knowledge. It would really put this site to better use!
The current site is backed by WordPress, and I’d like to keep that. The theme in use is easily changed, and I wouldn’t mind implementing a custom theme to fit the forums.
Does anyone have any WordPress forum plugins they recommend?

Have you thought about using the bbpress plugin? It comes highly recommended. I used it once on a site and had no trouble with it at all. You might also consider moving to different hosting since godaddy will charge you more for having more than one database(you can store bbpress data in your same database but personally I’d recommend a different one for safety and stability).

I’ll definitely check out the bbpress plugin. Thanks!
And I don’t host with GoDaddy. Never have, never will. Their hosting is way too slow, limited, and the most user hostile control panel.
Thanks for the advice!

My bad. I always sneak a peek at whois records and missed the fact that you’re only registered with them, not hosted. You’re right about the control panel too. It’s like the IE of control panels lol.
Unrelated: have you ever looked at Modx CMS? It’s terrible. It breaks frequently and rewrites your code randomly. Never use it.

It’s cool. I always sneak at the whois too.
I’ve never looked at Modx CMS. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind.
Thanks!

Nice find Jacopo. Looks like it was very well assembled. And puts everything we’ve all been thinking into a nice summary. Thanks for the link!

I hate you ie so much. Using it once a day for bing rewards is 10 minutes where it seems death is the only escape.

IE is the easiest browser to access my uni’s WiFi on. Mozilla takes ages to set up and I forgot how I did it last time. It’s killing me to use IE and it is the first time I’ve used it since I bought my laptop (except for using it to download Firefox). It just sucks so hard. I got here by typing in frustration ihateinternetexplorer.com to make myself feel better. This site exists, YAY!
